ملخص: This study aimed to examine the relationship between social shyness and self-concept among siblings of individuals with disabilities in Palestine by identifying the levels of both variables and the nature of their relationship. The study employed a descriptive analytical methodology. The sample consisted of 300 siblings aged between 18 and 30 years, selected through a convenience sampling method from a population of 1,278 individuals. Two validated instruments were used: the Social Shyness Scale and the Self-Concept Scale. Data were analyzed using SPSS. The results revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between social shyness and self-concept, with a correlation coefficient of 0.371. Participants demonstrated high levels of social shyness (M = 3.70) and high levels of self-concept (M = 3.76). Furthermore, no statistically significant differences were found in either variable based on gender, age, place of residence, academic qualification, type of disability, or its severity. The study concluded with a recommendation to develop specialized counseling programs for siblings of individuals with disabilities to reduce social shyness and promote community awareness regarding the integration of people with disabilities. The study also emphasized the role of families in providing psychological and social support to siblings.
