Abstract: | This study aimed to explore the social self and its relationship with the professional performance of social workers in the Ministry of Development in the northern West Bank governorates. The study used a correlational descriptive methodology and employed a questionnaire to collect data from a sample of 105 social workers working in the Ministry of Social Development, who were selected purposefully. The results showed that the mean score of the study sample on the social self scale was 4.20, corresponding to 84.0%, indicating a high rating. The mean score of the study sample on the professional performance scale was 4.28, corresponding to 85.6%, indicating a high rating. The study also revealed no statistically significant differences in the mean scores of social self or professional performance based on gender, age, or income level. However, significant differences were found based on educational level and years of experience. Additionally, the study found a statistically significant correlation between social self and professional performance among social workers. The study concluded with several recommendations, including the need to organize workshops and training courses to enhance the social self of social workers, improve communication skills, and build self-confidence, while creating a work environment that fosters collaboration and team belonging. It is also important to develop mechanisms for exchanging experiences and training social workers with higher qualifications in guidance and counseling, as well as improving professional performance evaluation mechanisms. Moreover, social workers should be supported in their continuous self-assessment of their skills to motivate them to improve their professional performance |
