| ملخص: | This study aimed to identify the role of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in alleviating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among children in refugee camps in the Tulkarm Governorate. The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach. The study population consisted of 1,185 children aged 12-15 years residing in the Tulkarm and Nur Shams refugee camps (UNRWA). A simple random sample of 250 children was selected. The results showed that the first dimension (recalling traumatic experiences) had a mean score of 22.55 and a relative strength of 75.17%. The second dimension (avoiding traumatic experiences) had a mean score of 20.04 and a relative strength of 66.79%. The third dimension (hyperactivity) had a mean score of 21.83 and a relative strength of 72.76%. The fourth dimension (disruption in social and academic skills) also had a significant impact. With a mean score of 18.78 and a relative strength of 62.61%, the results indicate a statistically significant relationship (α ≤ 0.05) between the level of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among children in Tulkarm Governorate camps and certain demographic variables. Significant differences were found based on gender, favoring males, and age-related differences favoring the 12-year-old age group in the second axis and the overall score, and the 15-year-old age group in the first and third axes. The study recommends implementing pilot programs based on the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) model with children, training social workers and those working with children on this model due to its effectiveness in addressing various childhood disorders, integrating psychosocial support services into schools and childcare centers, and conducting workshops and training courses for social work students (Bachelor's and Master's levels) to educate them on ACT techniques and processes so they can provide support within their fieldwork. |
