Abstract: | This study aimed to identify the role of school awareness programs in reducing the phenomenon of drug abuse from the perspective of school counselors (MENTORS) and teachers in Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate and a proposed concept from the perspective of public practice in activating them. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the descriptive, analytical and correlational method because of its suitability for the nature of the study, as the study population consisted of school counselors and teachers in Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate in 2024, numbering (655) teachers and counselors still working in schools . In this study, the researcher selected a simple random sample, and used a “questionnaire” as the main tool of the study, it was electronically distributed to a ( 246) sample members. One of the most important findings of the study was that the school awareness programs came with a high score. The results also showed that the level of reducing the phenomenon of drug abuse in Ramallah and Al-Bireh schools was high, and the results showed that there is a role for school awareness programs in reducing the phenomenon of drug abuse in schools in Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, and the correlation coefficient was 86. 7%. Based on these results, the study recommended working on developing school curricula and including topics about drugs and addiction and their effects on the individual and society in all educational levels as a kind of continuous awareness for students through the school curriculum. Also, the Ministry of Education should work more on providing training programs for teachers and counselors related to developing their skills in raising school awareness about drugs and addiction. |
