Abstract: This study is based on two linguistic levels in children’s poetry of Ahmad Shawqi, namely: phonetic and semasiological. The researcher presents a prelude to the life of the poet, his poetic levels and then moves to chapter one as an introduction to the definition of children literature etymology. The critique of critiques and researchers is tackled in order to explore the foundation of this literature and its development across the ages. In the first chapter, the researcher tackles the themes of children literature, general characteristics highlighting the most common themes a long with examples of each theme. Also, the general characteristics of children literature are detailed along with presenting examples of these characteristics. In the second chapter the researcher clarified the themes of children poetry in Shawqi’s poetry focusing on its similarity with the characteristics of children literature and its themes in general by giving examples clarifying these themes and characteristics. Besides, the critique of the critiques in Shawqi’s poetry is clarified. The third chapter explored a number of his poems based on phonetic and semasiological levels taking in consideration its appropriateness to children and their frequency in the educational curricula. Also, the impact of the voice and its appropriateness with the meaning of the poem is clarified. Finally, the results of the study are drawn based on following the descriptive methodology in this study in order to achieve the aim of the study.
