وهم الذين قادوا ثورة فقراء اليهود سنة 167 ق.م، ضد إجراءات الحاكم السلوقي انطيخوس الرابع، والتي حاول من خلالها إلغاء الطقوس والعادات اليهودية، وصبغ اليهود بالثقافة الهيلنية، وقاد هذه الثورة كاهن بيت لحم ماثياس الحشموني.
