Abstract:
The study aims to identify the level of psychological stress and its relation with job satisfaction among the nursing staff at Palestine Medical Complex - Ramallah, using the descriptive correlative approach, and applying: psychological stress and job satisfaction scales, on an accessible sample cosists of 170 male and female nurses, which represents (40.6%) of the study population. The results show that the level of psychological stress and its domains is moderate, and the average of psychological stress is (2.96), where the "work stress" is the highest, and the "social stress" is the lowest. The level of job satisfaction is also moderate, with an average of (2.88), where "relationship with colleagues and officials" first, and "salary and bonuses" came last. The results show that there were differences in psychological stress and its fields, with the exception of the field of social stress, due to the gender variable; in favor of males, while the differences are insufficient to indicate psychological stress due to: social status, or years of experience. The results show that there are no differences in job satisfaction due all study variables, except on the: promotions and incentives systems, salary and bonuses, due to gender, in favor of females. The results indicates that there is a non-significant correlation at the level (α≥.05) between psychological stress and job satisfaction; The correlation coefficient is (-.108), while the relationship is significant between: the nature of work, promotions and incentives systems, the relationship with colleagues and officials, and the two domains: work stress, economic pressure. The is also significant inverse relation between the total degree of job satisfaction, and job satisfaction. salary, bonuses, and economic pressures. The results indicates that there is a statistically significant effect of (economic pressures and social pressures) in predicting job satisfaction, where they explains (8.9%) of the percentage of variation in job satisfaction. As for the dimension of work stress, it does not contribute significantly to predicting the level of job satisfaction.
