Abstract:
The study aimed to identify the relationship between Psychosomatic Disorders and Emotional Balance among a sample of patients with endocrine disorders in Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate, and to investigate the level of each of these variables and the differences in their averages according to the variables: gender, age, type of disorder, the researcher used the correlative descriptive approach. The study tools consisted of a psychosomatic disorder scale and an emotional equilibrium scale, and the two scales were applied to a sample of endocrine disorders patients in Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate, which were selected within the available or accessible sample and included (104) endocrine disorders patients in 2021/2022.
The results of the study show that the level of Psychosomatic Disorders is moderate in all its domains, where the mood and emotion domain come first, while the physical symptoms domain come last. Also, the level of emotional balance is moderate in all its domains, where the emotional flexibility domain come first, emotional control domain come next and the emotional confrontation come last.
The results show that there are no statistically significant differences on the scale of psychosomatic disorders and its domains attribute to gender and age variables, except for the mood and emotional domain depending on age variable. Where statistically differences been noticed on patients (less than 30 years old).
In addition, the results show that there are statistically significant differences on the scale of psychosomatic disorders and the mood and emotion domain attribute to the type of disorder variable, with results indicating statistically significant differences in psychosomatic disorders as a whole depending on the type of disorder variable between (diabetes) and (thyroid disorder), The differences are in favor of (thyroid disorder).
Furthermore, the results show that there are no statistically significant differences on the emotional balance scale and its domains attribute to gender and type of disorder variables, except for the emotional confrontation domain. The results also show statistically significant differences in the emotional balance scale and the domains of emotional control and emotional flexibility on study sample attribute to age variable. The differences are in favor of (30 to 40 years) and (more than 40 years).
Moreover, the results indicate that there is a correlation between psychosomatic disorders and emotional balance among a sample of endocrine disorders patients in Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate.
The results also show that there are a statistically significant effect of the domain of mood and emotional aspects in predicting the level of emotional balance.
