Abstract:
Challenges in Assessing the Needs of the Elderly and Strategies for Overcoming Them A Field Study from the Perspective of Social Workers and Practitioners in the Field. The descriptive analytical approach was used, and the study population consisted of (106) specialists and workers in the northern West Bank. Western (Jenin, Nablus, Tulkarm, Qalqilya), and they were chosen as a comprehensive survey of the community.
It was found that the total score of the scale of obstacles to assessing the needs of the elderly reached (4.28) with a high rating, and the field of “psychological and emotional obstacles” came in first place with an arithmetic mean of (4.44), while the field of “social obstacles” came in last place, with an arithmetic mean of (4.07), and the scale of ways to overcome On an arithmetic mean (4.56) with a high estimate, it was found that there are differences in the obstacles to estimating the needs of the elderly, according to the gender variable with the exception of: (psychological and emotional obstacles) in favor of males, and age with the exception of: (psychological and emotional obstacles) in favor of (more than 40 years), and the academic qualification, so the differences came For the fields of: (Health Obstacles, Social Obstacles) in favor of Master’s degree or higher, and experience in all fields with the exception of: (Health Obstacles) and the differences were in favor of (5-10 years), and (more than 10 years), and training courses in the field of (Economic Obstacles) in favor of (more than 6 courses), and it reached There were no differences in the methods of overcoming obstacles based on the study variables.
The study recommended providing training programs for specialists related to the obstacles that the elderly may face.
