Abstract:
The aim of this study was to identify the social and psychological pressures faced by female workers in the Directorates of Social Development in the Northern West Bank Governorates, and to examine the coping strategies employed to address these pressures. Additionally, the study aimed to propose a perspective based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to manage these pressures. The study adopted a descriptive-correlational approach using a questionnaire tool. The study population consisted of all female workers in the Directorates of Social Development in the Northern West Bank Governorates (Nablus, Jenin, Tulkarem, Tubas, Salfit, Qalqilya), totaling 160 female workers. The entire population was selected as the sample, and the study scales were applied to all 160 female workers.
The findings of the study revealed that the level of social and psychological pressures faced by the workers , as well as the coping strategies employed, were moderate. It was found that there were no statistically significant differences in the level of pressures based on variables such as age, educational qualification, years of work experience, marital status, and place of residence. However, significant differences were found based on monthly family income , with differences favoring those whose family income ranged between 3000-3999 shekels. Similarly, no statistically significant differences were found in coping strategies based on some variables, but differences were found based on educational qualification and monthly family income.
Based on these findings, a proposed framework based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy principles was developed, aiming to help workers recognize and replace negative thoughts with positive ones through specialized training programs. The framework also includes enhancing effective communication skills, reducing social isolation through group activities, and training workers in relaxation techniques such as meditation and deep breathing. Furthermore, the study recommends improving the work environment by implementing flexible policies that reduce stress, strengthening social relationships among employees through regular social events, and providing ongoing psychological support and stress management training through workshops focused on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
