الخلاصة:
This study aims at examining emotional divorce and its association with psychological adjustment among a sample of couples in Ramallah & Al-Bireh governorate in accordance with the study variables (sex, duration of marriage, and educational level). To achieve the study objectives, the researcher used the descriptive-correlational approach, and the scale of (emotional divorce) and the scale of (psychological adjustment) were developed, and the study tool’s reliability and validity were verified. The study sample consists of (300) couples in Ramallah & Al-Bireh governorate, who were selected using available sample.
The results revealed that there is a low level of emotional divorce with an arithmetic mean of (2.03) in favor of (wives), and there is a high level of psychological adjustment with an arithmetic mean of (4.34) in favor of (husbands). The results also showed that there are no statistically significant differences at significance level (α (0.05≥ in the averages of emotional divorce among a sample of couples in Ramallah & Al-Bireh governorate, to be attributed to the following variables (duration of marriage, and educational level), and there are no statistically significant differences at significance level (α (0.05≥ in the averages of psychological adjustment among a sample of couples in Ramallah & Al-Bireh governorate to be attributed to the following variables (duration of marriage, and educational level). The results also indicated that there is a negative inverse correlation; as the more the level of emotional divorce increases, the level of psychological adjustment decreases. The study also recommends to raise the awareness of couples who are about to get married and learn them marriage skills.
