This study, “The aesthetic transformations between the Ego and the Other in Zuhair bin Abi Salma’s poetry,” deals with examples from the pre-Islamic poetry era, which takes the poet, Zuhair bin Abi Salma, as a model.
The aim of this research is to know about some of the poet’s expressions in his poetic productions and to form a comprehensive impression about the pre-Islamic poets who are able to express their experiences. The importance of this study stems from the fact that it is considered as an attempt to explore the extent of the appearance of the Ego, which is considered to be low.
The researcher adopted the descriptive-analytical method.
The study consists of four chapters: the first is, Zuhair, “A poetic phenomenon that the desert gave birth to.” It includes three main topics: The first is: An overview of the poet’s life. The second is: Zahir as a person: his morals, behavior, and philosophy. The third is: Zahir a poet: the characteristics of the aesthetic formation of him as a poet. The second chapter is “A terminological and specific approach to the Ego and the Other,” which includes three main topics: The first is the ego in language and idiom, the second topic is the Other in language and idioms, and the third is the possibilities of the Ego and the Other and their types in the creative process. The third chapter is “The qualitative axes of the Ego and the Other in poetic creativity,” which includes three main topics: The first is the external influences on the aesthetic transformations between the Ego and the Other, the second is the internal influences in the aesthetic transformations between the Ego and the Other, the third is aesthetic transformations for the ego and the Other in poetic purposes, and finally, the fourth chapter is the aesthetic formation of the Ego and the Other according to Zuhair in his Muallaqa as a model, which includes three main topics: the first topic is the stylistic aesthetic components, the second is the graphic aesthetic components, and the third is the creative aesthetic components.
The research concludes with a summary in which the results of the study are mentioned. There is also an index to verify the references and sources.
