| Abstract: | The study aims to identify the effectiveness of a mindfulness-based counseling program in developing self-tolerance and enhancing awareness of lifestyle management among recently divorced women in the city of Jerusalem. The study uses the quasi-experimental approach, and the study was applied to a sample consisting of 26 recently divorced women aged (25-40) years, who were intentionally selected from those who scored low on the self-tolerance and lifestyle management awareness scales. They were divided equally into two groups, one experimental and the other control. The self-tolerance and lifestyle management awareness scales were used to collect data, and a mindfulness-based counseling program was applied to the experimental group, in 14 counseling sessions, two sessions per week, each lasting (60-90) minutes. The results of the study show that there are statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups in the post-measurement in favor of the experimental group, while there are no statistically significant differences between the post- and follow-up measurements among the participants in the experimental group, and there are statistically significant differences between the pre- and post-measurements among the members of the experimental group in the two measures in favor of the post-measurement, which indicates the effectiveness of the mindfulness-based guidance program applied to the experimental group, and the continuity of its effectiveness after a follow-up period of (8) weeks. The results also show that the effect size of the guidance program reached (.451) in developing self-tolerance, and (.371) in enhancing awareness of lifestyle management. Based on the results, the study recommends applying the developed mindfulness-based guidance program to other communities, and for similar guidance purposes. |
