Translation: Constraints and Difficulties

Abstract

In this introductory unit of this course, some of the constraints and difficulties that face students in translators are to be represented. These will include the issue of acceptability vs. correctness, the problem of culture-bound terms, the question of neologisms, the English phrasal verbs and idioms, the difficulty of dealing with unfindable words, and the importance of realizing the major differences between British and American English. To achieve the objectives of this unit, a lot of exercises will be given in addition to a sufficient number of SAQs
