Abstract:
The study aims to find out the patterns of family upbringing used and their relationship to the two personality types (extraversion and introversion) and self-concept among women working in Palestinian Civil Governmental Institutions in Jericho Governorate. The study uses the descriptive survey approach, to achieve these goals, the descriptive correlative approach was used for its relevance to the nature of the objectives of the study, and a comprehensive survey of women working in Palestinian Civil Governmental Institutions in Jericho Governorate, and the number of available sample members for the study community reached (420), and thus the study sample is the study population.
Three different study tools were used gradually, and the results indicated that the fields of family upbringing were varied, where the democratic field came in a high degree, while the other family fields (authoritarian, acceptance, ostracism, neglect) came in a medium degree. It also showed that the personality pattern is extraverted, and with regard to the self-concept, the results indicated that all of its fields came to a high degree, namely, the self-concept (moral, personal, family, and social).
The results show that there is a statistically significant positive correlation between the averages of the domains of upbringing (democracy, acceptance, and protection in excess) and the means of personality type. And it is found that there is a statistically significant positive correlation between the means of the self-concept patterns (moral, personal, family, and social) and the mean of the extroverted personality type. And it is found that there is a statistically significant positive correlation between the average moral self-concept and the averages of the dimensions of socialization (democracy, acceptance, and increased protection).
The researcher presents several recommendations and proposals, represented by:
1. Holding workshops to educate mothers about the importance of positive family upbringing patterns (democratic, receptive) and their impact on the formation of self-concept and extraverted personality type, and avoiding negative family upbringing patterns (authoritarianism, ostracism, excessive protection, neglect.).
2. Preparing programs to educate parents about the right methods in dealing with their children and the impact of negative methods on their children's personalities.
3. Re-application of the current study on a sample that includes all governorates and the introduction of demographic variables such as economic status and educational level.
4. Conducting more studies on the patterns of family upbringing and its relationship to new and important variables.
She made several recommendations and proposals, including holding workshops to educate mothers about the importance of positive family upbringing patterns (democratic, acceptance) in forming self-concept and extraversion personality, and preparing programs to educate parents about the right methods in dealing with their children and the impact of positive methods on their children's personalities.
