<title>The Effectiveness of a Targeted Social Work Program in Addressing Psychosocial Challenges among Mothers of Martyrs in Tulkarem Governorate</title>
<link>https://dspace.qou.edu/handle/194/3064</link>
<description>The Effectiveness of a Targeted Social Work Program in Addressing Psychosocial Challenges among Mothers of Martyrs in Tulkarem Governorate
Abed ALhadi, Hanan; Fayez Abu Baker, Dr. Iyad
The study aimed to evaluate the impact of a selective social service program in alleviating the psychological and social problems of mothers of martyrs in the Tulkarm governorate. The study population consisted of all mothers of martyrs in the governorate. A quasi-experimental approach was used as the appropriate methodology for this study, and it was applied to an experimental and control group, which included 30 mothers of martyrs, who were randomly divided into two groups: an experimental group consisting of 15 mothers who received a selective social service program consisting of 12 counseling sessions, and a control group consisting of 15 mothers who did not receive any intervention. The researcher used a scale for psychological and social problems that she developed specifically for this study, which was applied to both groups in pre- and post-measurements. A follow-up measurement was also conducted one month after the end of the program for the experimental group only, in order to examine the sustainability of the effect. The results of the study showed statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups in the post-measurement in favor of the experimental group, indicating the effectiveness of the selective program in alleviating psychological and social problems. The results also revealed the continuity of this positive impact two weeks after the end of the program, confirming the sustainability of the effectiveness of the counseling intervention.

<title>The Role of Government Policies in the Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Palestinian Society: A Professional Social Work Perspective</title>
<link>https://dspace.qou.edu/handle/194/3059</link>
<description>The Role of Government Policies in the Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Palestinian Society: A Professional Social Work Perspective
Saad Mohammed Abu Odeh, Rana; Hijazi, Dr. Nazmiya
This study aimed to analyze and evaluate the reality of governmental social policies directed toward the inclusion of persons with physical disabilities in Palestinian society, based on the ecological perspective in social work. This perspective conceptualizes disability as the outcome of a complex interaction between the individual and their social, institutional, and policy environments, rather than as an isolated individual impairment. The study stemmed from a fundamental problem represented by the clear gap between the legislative framework supporting the rights of persons with disabilities and the level of practical implementation of these policies, which limits their effectiveness in achieving comprehensive and sustainable inclusion.&#13;
The study employed a descriptive–analytical methodology and targeted two samples: persons with physical disabilities as direct beneficiaries of governmental policies, and social workers as key professionals responsible for policy implementation. Data were collected through two validated and reliable questionnaires. The findings showed that the level of inclusion and benefit from governmental policies, as perceived by persons with physical disabilities, was moderate, indicating partial inclusion primarily supported by families and informal community networks, alongside a limited institutional role—particularly in economic empowerment, employment, and environmental accessibility. Similarly, social workers rated the effectiveness of governmental social policies as moderate, attributing this to deficiencies in implementation mechanisms, follow-up processes, and institutional coordination.&#13;
The findings revealed statistically significant gender-based differences among persons with physical disabilities in favor of females, while no significant differences were observed by age or place of residence, indicating the centralized and non-context-sensitive nature of public policies. Significant differences were also found according to social workers’ years of professional experience, underscoring the role of accumulated practice in shaping critical policy awareness.&#13;
The study concludes that, despite their legislative presence, governmental social policies in Palestine suffer from ecological fragmentation due to weak integration across individual, familial, institutional, and policy levels, highlighting the need for an integrated ecological framework that promotes empowerment, participation, and social justice, and advances inclusion as a sustainable institutional practice.

<title>The psychological and social challenges faced by Palestinian students returning from exile and the role of the social worker in enhancing their ability to adapt</title>

<description>The psychological and social challenges faced by Palestinian students returning from exile and the role of the social worker in enhancing their ability to adapt
Saleh Eid Hussien, Ghadeer; Mezel Ateeq, Dr/ Abdel;arim
The study aimed to identify the psychological and social challenges faced by Palestinian students returning from abroad, and to examine the impact of these challenges on their adaptation to the new educational and social environment. This study employed a descriptive-qualitative approach using a case study method, with a purposive sample of 10 Palestinian students returning from abroad. Interviews were used as the primary data collection tool. The results showed that the majority of participants faced psychological challenges, including anxiety, stress, feelings of alienation, loss of identity, and sleep disturbances, as well as social challenges, such as social isolation, difficulty forming friendships, and experiences of bullying and ridicule. These challenges led to decreased academic achievement and a lack of motivation to participate in class activities. The results also indicated that the role of the social worker includes a set of activities aimed at supporting students psychologically and socially, through individual counseling, organizing group activities, acting as a mediator between the family and the school, and communicating with teachers. Furthermore, the results revealed variations in the psychological and social challenges faced by returning students according to gender, age, and length of stay abroad. The study recommends enhancing psychological and social support for returning students and developing guidance programs and group activities to promote social interaction and adaptation.
