<title>Compulsive shopping and its relationship to self-concept among students of Al-Quds Open University</title>
<link>https://dspace.qou.edu/handle/194/2988</link>
<description>Compulsive shopping and its relationship to self-concept among students of Al-Quds Open University
Haroon, Israa'
The study aims to identify the levels of compulsive shopping and their relationship to the self-concept of Al-Quds Open University students. It also aims to determine the differences in each of these levels in regards with the variables of gender, place of residence, and economic level. The descriptive correlational approach was employed through the application of compulsive shopping and self-concept scales on an available sample, the size of which was (365) students from Al-Quds University. Among them are (117) male students and (239) female students.&#13;
 The results of the study show that the arithmetic mean of compulsive shopping as a whole, reached an average of (2.86) with a percentage (57.2%), and that the arithmetic mean of the physical self-concept as a whole was high (4.17), with a percentage of (83.4%). The results also indicate that there are statistically significant differences between the average scores of the sample’s responses to the two scales in the domain of compulsive shopping: the pleasure resulting from the purchase, and the negative feelings resulting from the purchase which are attributed to the variable of (gender), in favor of the females. The results show, as well, that there are statistically significant differences between the means of the self-concept that are attributed to the gender variable in favor of the females. Furthermore, the results point out that there is no correlation between compulsive shopping and self-concept among Al-Quds Open University students, as the value of the Pearson correlation coefficient was (085.)

Aldeek, Ilham
The study aims to identify the level of addiction to social media among Al-Quds Open University students, and its relationship to social isolation and psychological loneliness, using the descriptive correlative approach, and applying the study tools to a cluster sample, from the branches of Ramallah, Al-Bireh, Salfit, and Nablus, consists of 282 male and female students, distributed according to demographic study variables, in the academic year 2021/2022.&#13;
The results show that the average of social media addiction was (3.21), with a percentage (64.2%), and a moderate level. The results show that the average of social isolation is (2.66), with a percentage (53.2%), and a moderate level. The average of feeling psychological loneliness is (2.58), with a percentage (51.6%), and a moderate level also. The results indicates that there are no statistically significant differences at the level (α≥.05) in social media addiction due to: gender, specialization, place of residence, while the differences are statistically significant in social isolation according to the specialization, in favor of: (Arts), (Social and Family Development), and (Administrative and Economic Sciences). As well as the presence of statistically significant differences in the feeling of psychological loneliness according to specialization, in favor of (Arts), (Social and Family Development), (Administrative and Economic Sciences).&#13;
The results reveal a positive statistically significant relationship between social media addiction and social isolation and psychological loneliness. The value of the Pearson correlation coefficient is (.534) and (.440) respectively, and there is a direct statistically significant relationship between social isolation and a sense of psychological loneliness among students, as the value of the Pearson correlation coefficient is (.846). The results indicates that there is a statistically significant effect of social isolation in predicting feelings of psychological loneliness, it is noted that the social isolation variable has explained (71.6%) of the percentage of variance in feelings of psychological loneliness, that is, the social isolation variable has an important and basic role in predicting feelings of psychological loneliness. It does not contribute significantly to predicting the level of psychological loneliness.

<description>Psychological Flexibility as a Mediating Variable between Unemployment Anxiety and Openness to Experience Among a Sample of Al-Quds Open University Graduates
Makhamra, Ameera
The study aimed to identify psychological flexibilty as a mediating variable between unemployment anxiety and openness to experience among a sample of Al-Quds Open University graduates. It also aimed at investigating the level and differences in the averages of each of these variables according to gender, family income level in shekels, and marital status. The correlational approach was used by the method of path analysis. The three study scales were applied: psychological flexibility measure, unemployment anxiety, and openness to experience on a sample chosen by the available sampling method, which included 234 graduated from Al-Quds Open University in the year 2021/2022.&#13;
The results indicated the arithmetic mean of the study sample’s estimates on the psychological flexibility scale amounted to 3.97 and a percentage of 79.4% with a high rating. The results also indicated that the arithmetic mean of the estimates of the study sample on the unemployment anxiety scale amounted to 2.08 and a percentage of 41.6% with a low rating. The results showed that the arithmetic mean of the study sample’s ratings on the openness to experience scale amounted to 4.21 and a percentage of 84.2% with a high rating.

<title>Psychosocial adaptation as an intermediate variable between the feeling of psychological loneliness and pessimism among liberated prisoners who have been subjected to solitary confinement in the prisons of the Israeli occupation</title>
<link>https://dspace.qou.edu/handle/194/2985</link>
<description>Psychosocial adaptation as an intermediate variable between the feeling of psychological loneliness and pessimism among liberated prisoners who have been subjected to solitary confinement in the prisons of the Israeli occupation
Shtayyeh, Jumana
The study aims to identify  the level of psychological and social adaptation, and its relationship to the feeling of psychological loneliness and pessimism among the released prisoners who were subjected to solitary confinement in the prisons of the Israeli occupation in Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate, and the differences in each of them according to variables:  Gender, age, marital status, and how long the prisoner has been in solitary confinement. The study adopted the descriptive relational approach, through the application of measures: psychological and social adaptation, psychological loneliness, pessimism, on an available sample of (100) liberated prisoners who were subjected to the experience of solitary confinement inside the prisons of the Israeli occupation in Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate in the year 2021/2022.&#13;
      The results showed that the level of psychological and social adaptation came in average, where the field of social adaptation came in first place with a high rating, while the field of psychological adaptation came in last place with an average rating, and the results also showed that the level of psychological loneliness was average, and came predominantly feeling lonely first, while the results came to feel friendly and loving from others finally, and the results also showed that the level of pessimism came average, where I always tended to be pessimistic under the measures of the occupation Arbitrary against Palestinians first, while I came to see that I have no value in this life at last, and the results indicated that there is a statistically significant correlation between the three variables of the study, and thus the condition of testing the model was achieved in the existence of a path between psychosocial adaptation and psychological loneliness, and the existence of a path between psychosocial adaptation and pessimism, and the existence of a path between psychological loneliness and pessimism.&#13;
      The value of influencing the feeling of psychological loneliness came directly to pessimism (953.) , this shows that the intermediate variable contributed to reducing the relationship between psychological loneliness over pessimism. Based on these findings, it can be argued that the effect differs from zero in the presence of the intermediate variable, and therefore the intermediate variable (psychosocial adaptation) is a partial mediator of the relationship between the independent variable (psychological loneliness) and the dependent variable (pessimism).
